Tomball Memorial High School Addition and Comprehensive Renovations Tomball ISD | Tomball, TX
The addition and comprehensive renovations to Tomball Memorial High School were a part of the successful November 2017 Bond Referendum. It identified increasing student capacity of the campus from approximately 2,300 to 3,000 students as well as expanding program offerings.
A Design Committee was assembled consisting of end-users, administrators, faculty and architects. The major program and ancillary areas were reviewed by the Design Committee and included administration, core curriculum, science, athletics, fine arts, career and technology education, kitchen and cafeteria areas. All work was developed to meet the program requirements and budgetary constraints, maintain existing parking and drives and to have the least impact as possible to the ongoing operations of the school during the construction period. Proposed new additions and renovations are approximately 155,034 sq ft and 54,392 sq ft respectively. Existing areas remained functional in their current capacity and all additions blend as seamlessly as possible with the existing facility in relation to established circulation and aesthetic.
“Members worked many hours in multiple design meetings to define and coordinate the scope of the schematic design documents to assure the needs identified in the 2017 Bond were addressed. Their efforts have developed the schematic program for all departments including the room sizes, number of additional and renovated rooms and adjacencies of the program spaces. The outcome was the schematic design plans, schedule and proposed construction phasing for the project”
