South Houston High School Early College Annex Pasadena ISD | Pasadena, TX
The new early college annex for South Houston High School is comprised of a two-story, freestanding building. The learning facility was designed to house the District’s growing advanced studies that earn high school students early college credits.
The stand-alone facility was designed to serve approximately 350 students. The building includes a lobby, 10 classrooms, two science labs with prep areas, large multi-purpose rooms, collaborative spaces, cafeteria/flex areas, warming kitchens, administrative offices and ancillary spaces. Classrooms and learning areas include marker walls, tack walls, interactive short-throw digital projectors, multiple display monitors and one-to-one technology supported by both hardwired and wireless network systems. Interior areas were further enhanced with flex spaces to encourage independent and small group learning. Aesthetics and branding integrate school colors and environmental graphics incorporating the campus mascot, inspirational words of encouragement and future education and professional themes. Site improvements made use of existing grounds, but also provided additional parking, service drives, landscaping with irrigation, athletic hill and sidewalks to connect to the existing campus.
+ Master planning was completed by IBI Group for this district.
“This building provides a seamless transition between PreK-12 and higher education environments and fosters a destination that mimics college environments so students are prepared for their upcoming life endeavors.”
