Ronald Thornton Middle School Fort Bend ISD | Missouri City, TX

Ronald Thornton Middle School in Fort Bend ISD is a two-story 228,566 sq ft building designed with a capacity of 1,367 students. Located in Sienna Plantation, this repeat school design shares a site with Donald Leonetti Elementary School with each school having independent circulation for on-site vehicular traffic.

Traditional classrooms are utilized by the students and staff; however, there have been various architectural design elements incorporated into the facility to promote next generation learning concepts and encourage student collaboration, critical thinking and problem-solving skills to prepare students for their future endeavors. Ronald Thornton Middle School is currently aiming to earn LEED® certification by the U.S. Green Building Council by integrating a sustainable site, optimizing energy-saving features, using recycled content and regional materials, maximizing indoor environmental quality and utilizing the school as a “building as a teacher” tool.

“Collaborative learning flex spaces, state of the art technology, daylighting skylights and flexible lighting controls were strategically arranged throughout the school to accommodate a variety of daily activities and gathering places to stimulate every child type with a healthy educational environment.”
