College Park Elementary School Addition and Renovations La Porte ISD | La Porte, TX
IBI Group designed an expansion and renovation of College Park Elementary School in La Porte ISD that focused on bringing the entire building up to code. Originally constructed in 1969, approximately 80% of the existing facility was left in place during the 90,000 sq ft renovation project.
Programmed spaces included the addition of an administration suite featuring a newly relocated, secure front entry, new gymnasium addition, upgraded library, faculty restrooms throughout the facility and a new covered play area. A drop-off drive with a wraparound canopy was constructed to mitigate traffic in the surrounding neighborhood.
Interior upgrades throughout the campus included technology, safety and security systems (lighting, card readers, cameras and fire alarms), flooring, lighting, wall coverings, door hardware and casework replacement. Exterior upgrades included replacement of the roofing for the entire building, façade repair and site improvements. Daylighting added to the existing cafetorium and color-coded interior wayfinding was implemented throughout.
